Back Safer
Model 36 & 36H Manual Switch Stands

The Back Safer Model 36 and 36H are economically engineered, extra-heavy-duty switch stands for unrestricted use. Both models have identical base housing and operating parts. The 36 is most often used for yard operations, while the 36H, with high mast and target, is suitable for mainline use.

Ergonomic Design for Operator Safety
The Back Safer Bow Handle is 30% lighter than standard counterweights. Its ergonomic design significantly reduces the risk of back injuries. The switch can be thrown with minimal operator motion.

Easy Installation and Adjustment
Adjustment features on the Back Safer 36 and 36H allow for easy installation in varied configurations. An adjustable connecting rod. screw eye and replaceable latch stands permit accurate setting of the points without respiking the stand. The Back Safer Bow Handle and yoke are also available for retrofit to existing model 36 switch stands.

Strong, Sturdy Construction
The Back Safer Model 36 and 36H have been designed with high quality components, including heavy duty housings. The number of working parts has been kept to a minimum. The extra large surfaces of the few wearing parts assure long life and minimal lost motion. Vital pans such as the spindle, crank, and screw eye are heat treated for extra strength and durability. Maintenance merely consists of greasing four easily reached points on the switch stand. Periodic inspection is recommended to insure internal components are working properly.


	Back Safer MODELS 50 AND MODELS 51 Back Safer Model 51 stands are available in the low profile (Model 51 A) and intermediate profile (Model 51B). The stands can be furnished with either the Back Safer Bow Handle or the conventional counter weighted lever. Rugged construction, ease of operation, and nearly a century of proven reliability makes the Back Safer Stands an excellent choice for use on main lines, sidings, and yard tracks. Back Safer Switch Stands are made in two designs: Model 50 (non adjustable), and Model 51 (adjustable). In the Model 50 the switch point adjustment is made at the connecting rod. In the Model 51 there is a convenient, selective adjustment feature. By the use of shims in the adjustment slot, either switch point may be adjusted independently of each other. Back Safer Switch Stand Models 50 and 51 are made in two types-tow and intermediate. The low type is distinguished by the letter "A" following the mode! number: and the intermediate type by the letter "B" after the number.


	Back Safer 12RT Variations

TRAILABLE SWITCH STANDS WITH BACK SAFER® BOW HANDLE AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY FROM G&B SPECIALTIES

The BACK SAFER* 12RT and 12RTH are heavy-duty trailable switch stands that incorporate a bow handle throwing device and are sturdily built to stand up under the heavy abuse of continuous "run-through" operations. The low stand 12RT is recommended for use with heavy rails. 60 Ibs. and over, for all yards, siding and ladder tracks where frequent movements of trains require spring action, or for any switch location where there is a likelihood that the switch will be "run-through". The high stand 12RTH. not shown, is identical to the low stand but features a high mast and target for mainline use or in situations where increased visibility is required.

SAFE DEPENDABLE OPERATION

The BACK SAFER* 12RT and 12RTH switch stands are engineered to withstand thousands of trailing movements. In a "run-through" movement, the first set of wheels partially moves the switch points to the new position. The movement is completed by a powerful spring mechanism.

The points remain in the new position until reset by the switch being again "run-through", or changed by throwing the switch stand lever. During automatic trailing, the target changes with the points so that the switch point position is indicated. but the lever remains unchanged until thrown by hand.

BACK SAFER® ERGONOMIC THROWING LEVER

The BACK SAFER® bow handle is available exclusively from G&B Specialties. This unique design, significantly reduces back stresses while increasing leverage efficiency. BACK SAFER® bow handles are powder coated and available upon request. The BACK SAFER* 12RT and 12RTH switch stands can also be furnished with the conventional counter weighted throwing lever.
